Hopefully it will still work with Mac OS X 10.9 this summer. I am happy that it is still working stably, reliably, and efficiently in the latest version of Mac OS X. I would have to jury-rig macros to get the built-in fax software to work someone like PageSender. But for me, it is still going strong on Mac OS X 10.8.4 on the latest Macs. It is sad that it is no longer being updated or sold.

These least expensive of these is only $89. This is very handy since Adobe Acrobat's Print-to-PDF modules no longer work.įor Print-to-Fax or simply faxing printed documents, I recommend buying an Epson WorkForce All-in-One Fax-Copy-Printer such as the WF-3540. The print jobs I can then transfer to an actual printer for output. But I still use them to as virtual printers - such as printing from Windows on Parallels when connecting to some systems which don't print well to local printers. The print to fax and print to email modules no longer work. This is a better feature set than any other fax software including that built into Mac OS X which is very rudimentary. It can also optionally print the faxes automatically. And it can show the fax automatically as they come in in Preview. It notifies you of a new fax using Growl. It can notify you by email if there is a problem. I love the way it automatically saves the faxes as PDFs in a selected folder and how it can automatically forward the faxes via eMail to multiple email addresses. It works well, reliably and stably with USRobotics USR5637 USB FaxModem. It is still the best software for RECEIVING AND ORGANIZING a large number of faxes. I am still using PageSender Fax Center 4.6 EVERY DAY on Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4. Thanks to PageSender, which I have yet to test out but have purchased based on universally positive recommendations here and elsewhere, I hope to be able to implement broadcast faxing merely by booting up into a previous Mac OS X version, namely Snow Leopard. I could always put my Global Village Teleport Gold and Teleport Gold II modems into service with my Mac II si or my PowerTowerPro clones, but I'd prefer to let those pre-Mac OS X collectibles rest in the attic, while I employ some variant of the Mac OS X to do my faxing. Yet, there is a need for faxing, and that need is not likely to disappear in the immediate future, so there will always be a need to use fax in certain situations, provided one is willing to use legacy software, legacy hardware, and legacy techniques to get the job done.
I told Smile that there is still a market for this software, since nothing better has come along to replace it, nor is anything likely ever to be develop to replace it, now that faxing has been so deprecated as a viable communications medium on Mac computers. Let's hope that both websites do so from this point on. My buying experience proves that one can still buy PageSender, although neither the developer nor MacUpdate (yet) makes it easy to do so. But it might be helpful to MacUpdate members if MacUpdate administrators also include the links where the program can still be purchased, instead of mentioning only that the program has been discontinued, with the implication that it can no be bought.

While developer Smile abandoned further development and support of PageSender at Snow Leopard, you can fortunately still buy PageSender 4.6 and run a licensed copy under Snow Leopard.
